Since my last post, Isaac’s health has been more stable. By stable, I really mean more of the usual cycle of infection, inflammation, treatment, side effects, a few weeks of better health, and repeat. IV’s complete as of yesterday. All went well. At 20, Isaac is now pretty independent in his treatments; able to mix up and administer his own drugs (thanks to the much needed portacath in his chest). It’s a funny kind of pride, watching him do this, after so many years of it being me or the nurses. He amazes me in a way that leaves me gazing into space and smiling aimlessly. Hoping this course of bug busting antibiotics will keep him going through a trip he has planned in December (to see a girlfriend) and Christmas. Best of all, he has been invited to join the next stage of a clinical trial (gene therapy) that he participated in last year. Changes have been made, which again, I cannot disclose due to confidentiality reasons, but which have us excited. Hopefully starting again in the NY.
Today is a good day. Love x
